Abby Girl is ONE

It is hard to believe that was me a year ago.  I was so small!  Well, I guess I was small.  After all, I was 11 pounds, two ounces!  Now I hover around 24 pounds and I know this because
I have been to the doctor's office this past week.  Sadly, I celebrated my birthday with the remnants of a double ear infection.  At least I no longer have the 104 temperature that I was rocking on Wednesday.

The picture to the right is right when I woke up on Saturday.  Momma plopped a party hat on my head before she even changed my diaper.  You might say she was on a mission to capture the moment.

Also, you might see some redness on my skin.  I had a good sized rash on my trunk that appeared in other random places.  Apparently I am allergic to penicillin.  Lovely.

My parents had wanted to take me to the Children's Museum for the first time.  However, they decided to keep it simple since I was recovering, had Uncle Brett's party in the evening, and my birthday party the following day.  It was a wise choice because I really needed to rest up for my busy social calendar.

Grammy sent me this party dress months ago!  Isn't it cute?  I wore it all day long and that is a big accomplishment!  Also, this silly hat kept finding its way on my head.  My momma wanted me to practice wearing it for my party; she is so silly!

My mommy and daddy gave me one large present.  Ella wanted to open it all day long, so I am lucky I got to open it myself.  In fact, I do believe she has ridden it more than I have.  But that is okay, I am a very good sharer.  Plus, she has some pretty neat toys that I like to get into.

After present opening we went to the park to feed the ducks.  We used my new method of transportation.  I was the coolest kid there.

My busy day continued.  After nap we went to Uncle Brett's 31st birthday party.  There I had my first (and second and third) piece of watermelon.  I could not get enough and Ella just kept tossing them on my tray.  What a nice big sister!

Now the watermelon was great, but what I really enjoyed was my smash cake!  Like my sister, I had a banana cake that was super cute.  Unlike my sister, I dove in... FAST!  I did not need any prompting or encouragement.  I knew just what to do.

See for yourself.

The cake was just amazing.  I had it in my hair, my ears, and up my nose.  But I did not care because when else am I going to be able to dig in like that?  Certainly not my wedding!

After my busy day, I hit the hay and slept like a baby.... er, toddler, I mean.

One ALREADY?

Hi everyone! It is me, Ella. I know, I know, my Sunday post is a day late, but I have a really great excuse. I was just plum-tuckered tired out from my first birthday party! In fact, I am still tired. Something about play, play, playing all day long combined with being the center of attention, eating more cake than my little heart can imagine, and having a mini- nap did me in.

My party was so fun. Mommy and daddy have been working non-stop to prepare for the festivities. They baked, chopped, cleaned, and decorated. There seemed to be pink and green, elephants and decorations everywhere. It was really cute. Grandma and grandpa even came by early to lend a helping hand. I think they knew that mommy and daddy had a lot on their plates.

Even though the weather stunk and it drizzled here and there all day long, it did not ruin my day. With my happy attitude, I did not even seem to notice. My friends Piper, Riley, Keira, and Grafton celebrated my birthday with me. We played really well together except Mommy says I need to be gentler with baby Piper. Being one has so many responsibilities. I need to remember NOT to pull hair, NOT to use my friends' faces to push myself up, and NOT to be rough with babies. Geesh! Next thing you know mommy is going to transition me to cow's milk and switch out my bottles for sippy cups! I hope THAT never happens.

The sweetest part of the day for me was when I got to dig into my smash cake. In fact, when Mommy and Daddy put it in front of me, my first thoughts were, "Who are you and what have you done with my parents?!" and then I started thinking," Is this a trick?" You see, I NEVER get to eat sweets. Mommy and Daddy micromanage my meals. Luckily for me, it was not a trick and I had an ENTIRE banana cake to myself and let me tell you, it was more than I could handle. At first, I played in to my adoring public. I let them encourage me while I smiled and teased them. I wanted to make sure I had their full attention. While I did that, I calmly tasted the cake and savored every minute. And once I had everyone watching me and on ther edge of their seats, I dove right in. And It. Was. Absolutely. Delicious.

Being the birthday girl definitely has its perks.

Awww... TJMAXX, How I Love Thee

This past Friday Ella and I stopped at one of my old stomping grounds after my Friday routine allergy shot. We went to TJ Maxx to kill time and browse. TJ Maxx and Marshalls were once regulars destinations on my shopping excursions. I have memories of purchasing bags and bags of clothes at these places when I was in middle school. I found it somewhat satisfying to scour all the racks, searching for undiscovered and cheap articles of clothing. But, I have not been to the Maxx or Marshalls in ages.

Ella and I were just looking~ looking for anything. We looked at pocketbooks and there were plenty I likes, but I am not in the market for a new purse. We looked at dresses and we looked at shoes. Then we went to the housewares section and I have never had much luck there, but we stumbled upon the most perfect tablecloths for Ella's first birthday party! They were basically made for us and really should have had a red neon arrow leading to them. The theme of her party will be elephants and I have been knee deep in party organizing for months. Does that surprise you? Well, it shouldn't!

Anyways, Ella and I scored two of these purty tablecloths and I heart them!
